Minä Perhonen was founded in 1995 by designer Akira Minagawa. With a highly imaginative creative process and detailed drawings, he has designed numerous textiles for his own brand and the others. He created his line to produce clothes with designs that stand the test of time. He aspires to develop new materials and techniques, collaborating with many producers at home in Japan and abroad.
The name of the label minä perhonen originates in Finnish as the designer Minagawa sympathized with Scandinavian culture when he first visited Finland at the age of 19. minä means 'I' and perhonen means butterfly. And just like species of butterflies are countless, Akira's designs too continue to increase.
