INIS MEAIN KNITTING CO.

"Warmth from the Edge of the World".

The wild and rugged beauty of the wild Atlantic is realized in the knits from Inis Meain.

Tarlach de Blacam and his wife Aine settled on Inis Meain in 1976, determined to nurture and develop the island's traditional Aran knitting community.

While many young people previously emigrated to the mainland, Tarlach and Aine created a modern factory setting attractive to a young workforce. Today many graduates from mainland universities have arrived to work at the mill. What began as a local cottage industry centuries ago has now become a luxury fashion label, sold in fine boutiques across the globe.
